Before setting up Return of Title IV Funds on the Web, gather as much information
as possible about how your school awards Title IV aid, the various programs
in which students can enroll at your school, your institutional charges to
students, and your academic calendar (including breaks and holidays). This
includes the following student-specific and non-student-specific information:
-
Type of period (payment period or period of enrollment) used for the
calculation. Credit hour standard term schools must use payment period.
-
For credit hour programs:
-
For clock hour programs:
-
Clock hours in the period
-
Clock hours the student completed
-
Clock hours the student was scheduled to complete as of the withdrawal
date
-
Allowable institutional charges
-
Type of program in which the student was enrolled (credit hours or clock
hours)
-
Whether or not the school is required to take attendance for all or some
of its students
-
Type of withdrawal (with or without notification, etc.)
-
Date of withdrawal
-
Date of the school's determination that the student withdrew
-
Amounts and types of Title IV aid disbursed
-
Amounts and types of Title IV aid that could have been disbursed
-
Did the student receive or was eligible to receive aid from other Title
IV programs (state grants identified as LEAP, formerly SSIG)?
-
The method the school used to match FSEOG awards
You should also determine whether you need to define user-specified fields
to track school-specific data and values not collected on the Return of Title
IV Funds on the Web tabs.
Note: The Return of Title IV Funds Web site uses different worksheets to perform calculations for R2T4 and Post-Withdrawal Disbursement student records, depending on the student’s withdrawal date. Different fields will appear, and different calculations may be made, depending on the worksheet version you are using. Note the following guidelines:
- Student records with a withdrawal date on or after July 1, 2008 are calculated based on provisions in the College Cost Reduction and Access Act (the CCRAA) of 2007, Pub.L. 110-84. For more information, click CCRAA.
- Student records with a withdrawal date on or after July 1, 2006 and prior to July 1, 2008 are calculated based on provisions of the Higher Education Reconciliation Act (the HERA) of 2005, Pub. L. 109-171. Certain changes related to the HERA also apply to records with a withdrawal date on or after July 1, 2008. For more information, click HERA.
- Student records with a withdrawal date prior to July 1, 2006 are calculated based on pre-HERA regulations.
