Your FAFSA provides a snapshot of your family's financial situation as of
the date you sign and submit your FAFSA. If the processed information on your
Student Aid Report (SAR) is not accurate as of the date that you signed and
submitted your FAFSA, then corrections are needed.
Corrections on the Web will allow you to change information and add or remove
a school code. The only information that cannot be changed
is your Social Security Number (SSN). If your SSN is incorrect, it can only
be changed by entering the correct SSN on a paper Student Aid Report (SAR)
or the financial aid office at one of the schools listed on your SAR can change
it for you. If you need a paper SAR, you can call the Federal Student Aid Information
Center to request a copy. Refer to the Customer
Service page for contact and assistance information. Otherwise, you must
file a new application with the correct SSN.
If you believe you need to correct your information, but you are not sure,
contact your school’s financial aid office before making any corrections.
