Student's E-Mail Address

Previous

This is question 13 on the FAFSA.

The student's e-mail address is used to send information to the student regarding the status of his or her financial aid application. It is used to send confirmation that the electronic application has been received and to send a notification once the application has been processed and a Student Aid Report (SAR) has been generated. If no e-mail address is provided, we will communicate with the student regarding his or her financial aid application via regular postal mail.

The student's e-mail address must follow the rules below:

  1. Only one "at" symbol (@) allowed
  2. The first character cannot be an "at" symbol (@); for example, @domain.com
  3. Before the "at" symbol (@):
    • At least one valid character must be present
    • Only letters, digits, hyphens, underscores, and periods (all ASCII range 33-126 except for: <>()[]\,;:"@ )
    • Periods cannot be first, last, or adjacent to another period
  4. After the "at" symbol (@):
    • At least one valid character must be present
    • Only letters, digits, hyphens, underscores, and periods (all ASCII range 33-126 except for: <>()[]\,;:"@ )
    • Hyphens, underscores, and periods cannot be first, last, or adjacent to a period

Note: Some e-mail systems differentiate between uppercase and lowercase letters. The response to this question should match the e-mail address recognized by the student's e-mail provider.
