If you have not finished filling out the application and want to continue at a later time, you can save it. The saved application remains in our secure database for 45 days or until the federal application/correction deadline date. (Select Application Deadline Dates on the home page to see the federal application/correction deadline dates).
To save the FAFSA:
- Click on the Save button at the bottom of the screen that is being worked on.
- The next page will indicate that the save was successful.
You can choose to continue with the application or to go to the FAFSA home page.
To access the saved FAFSA at a later time*:
- Go to the FAFSA on the web homepage.
- Select “Continue working on a saved FAFSA” from the Filling Out a FAFSA section.
- On the next page, select the school year.

On the next page, enter your:
- Social Security Number,
- Date of birth,
- Last name,
- and the password created on your initial FAFSA entry page.
*NOTE: It may take up to 45 minutes before you can access the saved application. If you try to access the application and get a "Saved Application Not Found" page, keep trying for up to 45 minutes.
REMINDER: FAFSAs are saved for 45 days or until the federal application/correction deadline date. After 45 days or after the federal application/correction deadline date, the application will be removed from the database, and you will not be able to access it. (Select Application Deadline Dates on the home page to see the federal application/correction deadline dates.)
REMINDER: The application will automatically
be saved, if you lose connection to the Internet or experience other computer
problems.
