Electronic Signatures

Previous

A Federal Student Aid PIN serves as an electronic signature to sign a FAFSA on the Web application or to access Renewal or Corrections on the Web applications. This PIN is similar to the PIN used to access a bank account. To protect the privacy of your information, you must keep your PIN secret, even if someone else is filling out the application for you.

If you are a dependent student, at least one of your parents must sign your application. Your parent can sign your application electronically if they apply for and receive a PIN.

If you or your parent want to apply for a PIN, go to the Federal Student Aids's PIN Web site at www.pin.ed.gov and select Apply for a PIN.
