If you don’t have a PIN and have not submitted a FAFSA, you should apply for a PIN. To apply for a PIN go to www.pin.ed.gov, select "Apply for a PIN” and follow the instructions on the PIN application. If you don’t have a PIN but have submitted a FAFSA, you will automatically receive a PIN.
If you provided an e-mail address on your FAFSA or PIN application, you will receive a PIN e-mail notification, within 1 to 3 days, with instructions to retrieve your PIN. If you didn’t provide an e-mail address on your FAFSA, we will mail your PIN to the mailing address on your application within 7-10 days after the application is processed.
If you have a PIN but can’t remember what it is, you can request a
duplicate copy of your PIN. To request a duplicate PIN go to www.pin.ed.gov
and select "Request a Duplicate PIN” and follow the instructions
on the request form. You will receive your duplicate PIN within 4 hours by email, if we have a valid email address on file for you. If we do not have a valid email address for you, your PIN will be mailed to your mailing address within 7 to 10 days. To ensure that your PIN e-mail notification is delivered to your e-mail inbox,
enter our originating e-mail address, FederalStudentAidPIN@cpsemail.ed.gov, into your
e-mail address book
