Anyone who has a valid Social Security Number and is a U.S. Citizen or eligible noncitizen may apply for a PIN.

You can apply for a PIN by going to the Federal Student Aid's PIN Web site at www.pin.ed.gov and select "Apply for a PIN". It takes approximately 1 to 3 days to receive a PIN if you have an e-mail address. If you do not have an e-mail address, we will mail you a PIN. It takes approximately 7-10 days to receive a PIN in the mail.

To ensure that you receive your PIN e-mail notification, enter our originating e-mail address, FederalStudentAidPIN@cpsemail.ed.gov, into your e-mail address book.
