Clearing your browser's cache

The browser's cache stores the contents of all Web pages visited during a FAFSA on the Web session. To safeguard your information and prevent others from viewing what was entered online, clear your browser’s cache memory after exiting FAFSA on the Web.

To clear the browser's cache, follow the instructions below for the browser type:

Internet Explorer 7.x, 8.x, and 9.x users:

  1. Select Tools, then Internet Options.
  2. Select the General tab at the top.
  3. Under Browsing History, click the Delete button.
  4. Click the check box next to Temporary Internet Files.
  5. Click Delete.

Mozilla Firefox 3.5.x, 3.6.x, and 4.0.x – 9.0.x users:

  1. Select Tools.
  2. Select Options.
  3. Select the Advanced option.
  4. Select the Network tab.
  5. Click the Clear Now button.

Apple Safari 4.x and 5.x users:

  1. Click on Tools (the gear icon), then Reset Safari.
  2. Check Empty the cache and Remove all cookies, then click on Reset.

Google Chrome 9.0.x – 18.0.x users:

  1. Select the Wrench icon.
  2. Select History.
  3. Click Edit items…
  4. Click the Clear all browsing data… button.
  5. Click the Clear browsing data button.
  6. Click Done removing items.

Opera 9.5.x, 10.x, 11.x, and Opera Mini users:

  1. Click Menu then History.
  2. Click Delete.
