You must apply for federal student aid for every school year that you attend. To reapply, you can use either a Pre-filled FAFSA or a regular FAFSA. The Pre-filled FAFSA requests the same information as a regular FAFSA, but it already contains most of the information you provided on the FAFSA last year. Simply updating the information for the new school year on a Pre-filled FAFSA may be faster. However, the pre-filled application is available solely for your convenience. If you prefer to start fresh with a new FAFSA, you are free to do so.

If you applied for financial aid last year and meet certain conditions, Federal Student Aid will send you an electronic notification for a Pre-filled FAFSA on the Web. Here are the available pre-filled applications:

2. Regular FAFSA

3. You can reapply for financial aid through your school's financial aid office if the school participates in Electronic Data Exchange (EDE). You should contact the financial aid office at the school you plan to attend for more information.
