This is Step Six on the paper FAFSA.

Each school that participates in the Federal Student Aid Programs is assigned a six-digit federal school code. You must enter the six-digit code for each school you want to receive your FAFSA information.

To find a Federal School Code, go to the FAFSA on the Web home page at www.fafsa.ed.gov and select “Search for School Codes” in the Before Beginning a FAFSA section. Enter the name of the school and the state the school is located in to search for the school’s code. You can also contact the school to get the school’s code.

If you are searching for a foreign school, follow these steps:

• Select 'Foreign Country' from the drop-down box in the State field.
• Leave the City field blank.
• Type the school name.
• Select Next and wait for the search to complete.

If FAFSA on the Web does not find the school's code, call the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 1-800-4-FED-AID (1-800-433-3243) for assistance.
