You must enter your Social Security Number (SSN) to be considered for federal student aid.

Enter the Social Security Number (SSN) that is printed on your Social Security Card. Enter this number without dashes. For example enter, 123456789.

Re-enter your SSN to verify that it is correct.

Special instructions for citizens of the Freely Associated States

If you do not have an SSN and are a citizen of the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, or Palau, otherwise known as the Freely Associated States, enter 888 in the first three positions of the SSN field and leave the remaining six positions blank. Once your application is processed, the last 6 digits of the SSN will be assigned to you.

You may contact the Social Security Administration at 1-800-772-1213 or visit the Social Security Administration's Web site at www.ssa.gov to apply for a SSN or for assistance with other SSN related issues.
