This is question 70 on the paper FAFSA.
If your parents did not become legal residents of the state entered for their State of Legal Residence before January 1, 2004, you must enter the month and year for the parent who has been a legal resident of the state the longest. If your parents are divorced or separated, use the date for the parent whose financial information you reported on this application.
Enter two numbers for the month and four numbers for the year. If the month is less than 10, enter a zero in front of the number. For example, August 2001 must be entered 082001. If you do not know the month, enter the year. You cannot enter a year that is later than the current year.
Each state determines legal residency differently. You should contact the school's financial aid office for assistance with state legal residence qualifications.
