What was your parents' adjusted gross income for 2008?

Previous

This is question 86 on the paper FAFSA.

If you are a Dependent student, this question cannot be left blank unless your parents did not and will not file a tax return.

The response indicates the adjusted gross income (AGI) reported on your parents' 2008 income tax return.

The AGI can be found on:

IRS FormLine #
104037
1040A21
1040EZ4

Note: The line numbers above are from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) tax form, not from the W-2 form.

Adjusted gross income includes more than wages earned. For example, it can include alimony, Social Security, and business income.

If your parents' 2008 AGI is:

AGIEnter
One million or more999999
Negative one million or less-999999
Zero0

Round to the nearest dollar and do not include commas or decimal points.

The Income Estimator worksheet can be used to estimate the AGI if a 2008 tax form will be filed, but has not yet been completed.

Note: If you estimate your parents' adjusted gross income, you must update the information after your parents complete their tax return.
